AI Civic-Tech Platform

Independent project · Live in production

An AI-powered civic reporting platform for Halifax. Residents photograph a problem — a pothole, a broken streetlight — and AI turns it into a formal report routed to HRM 311 and their district councillor.

What I built
  • AI identifies the issue in a photo, classifies its severity, and writes the report for the resident.
  • Reports go to HRM 311 and CC the correct district councillor, with a tracking number back to the resident.
  • Public tracking and community verification, so neighbours can confirm whether an issue was actually fixed.
  • Recognized by CBC News for its approach to connecting residents with local government.

AR Landmark App

AI Image Classification

A browser app that identifies Canadian landmarks from a webcam capture or uploaded photo using a custom-trained image-classification model, then pulls a short description of the landmark from Wikipedia.

What I built
  • Trained a Google Teachable Machine model on 10 Canadian landmarks, plus a not-a-landmark class to cut false positives.
  • Runs inference entirely in the browser with TensorFlow.js — no server round trip for predictions.
  • Shows ranked confidence scores for every photo, and only fetches a Wikipedia summary once the match is confident.
  • Works within browser camera permissions and secure-context requirements for webcam access.

Atlantic Canadian Film Database

A Windows desktop application for exploring films connected to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island, built on a local IMDb database with curated regional metadata.

What I built
  • Built in C# and WPF with an MVVM structure separating views, view models, and services.
  • Loads titles, ratings, runtime, and cast from SQL Server LocalDB through Entity Framework Core.
  • Browse by province, search and filter the catalogue, open detailed film pages, and save favourites.
  • Covered view-model and service behaviour with an automated MSTest suite.

Support-minded, with a builder’s understanding of why software breaks.

I’m an IT Programming graduate from NSCC and a freelance web designer in Halifax. Over the last two years I’ve built real software — a civic platform residents use every day, an image-classification app, a Windows desktop application — alongside websites for small businesses and community organizations.

That mix is why I’m aiming at IT Support and Technical Support. I’m comfortable troubleshooting, working through documentation, and using AI tools to find answers faster, and because I’ve built applications myself, I understand what’s happening underneath when something goes wrong.

I’m looking for an entry-level IT Support, Technical Support, or AI-focused role where I can keep learning and be genuinely useful to the people I support.
