SolveHFX

AI-Powered Civic Reporting Platform

Role
Build, integration & support
Period
May 2026 — Present
Overview

Built and launched a production web application that lets Halifax residents photograph community issues and use AI to generate reports for HRM 311 and their district councillor.

What I built
  • AI classifies the photographed issue, assesses severity, and drafts a structured report for the resident.
  • Reports route automatically to HRM 311 and the correct district councillor for that location.
  • Public tracking with reference numbers, plus community verification so neighbours can confirm an issue is real.
  • Running in production: monitoring integrations, diagnosing failures, and iterating on real user reports.
Key capabilities
  • AI image classification
  • Severity assessment
  • AI report generation
  • Issue routing
  • API integration
  • Public tracking

MapleDomains

AI-Powered .CA Domain Discovery

Role
Build, integration & support
Period
May 2026 — Jul 2026
Overview

Built and launched an AI-powered domain discovery application that generates .ca domain ideas from business descriptions and locations, then checks live domain availability and pricing.

What I built
  • Server-side functions handle input validation, rate limiting, and response caching to keep third-party API usage predictable.
  • Every candidate is verified against live CIRA/RDAP registry data rather than a stale list.
  • Graceful fallbacks so a slow or failing upstream registry degrades the result instead of breaking the application.
  • Diagnosing upstream API failures and rate limits was most of the real work — infrastructure behaviour, not interface design.

02About

I understand what breaks, because I've built the things that break.

I'm an NSCC IT Programming graduate focused on IT Support, Technical Support, Application Support, and practical technology solutions.

I have hands-on experience troubleshooting and working with software, APIs, databases, web applications, Git/GitHub, deployments, and AI-powered tools. My programming background helps me understand how applications and systems work behind the scenes, so I can approach technical problems from both a support and a development perspective.

I'm interested in roles where I can troubleshoot issues, support users and applications, solve technical problems, improve workflows, and use AI and automation to make technology more effective.

  • Provide ongoing application support for the tools I build and maintain, including integration failures, data issues, and third-party API errors.
  • Integrate AI models, REST APIs, databases, and third-party services, then test, debug, and deploy the result to production.
  • Translate user and business requirements into working technical solutions, and document how they behave.
